Vision

Any individual, child or adult, who has 'the gift' *, will have the opportunity of reaching their full potential.

Mission Statement

To be an organization which offers a coordinated and central approach in addressing the needs of the dyslexic individual, their families and their community, while ensuring a safe place for accelerated learning, healing, education, social interaction and support of individual growth and development.

Key Messages

The word, DYSLEXIA is made of DYS = 'DIFFERENT', and LEX = 'MEANING', IA = 'PROCESS' The dyslexic generates MEANING using a DIFFERENT PROCESS.

This Society honours and respects the dyslexic's innate learning style.

We believe all individuals are entitled to an equal opportunity to learn.

Individuals have two cognitive processes of thinking, learning, understanding and creating meaning.

The current education system teaches almost entirely to one cognitive process.

We believe the first step is to SHIFT the understanding of dyslexia to allow that equal opportunity:

  • The 'gift of dyslexia' is a perceptual talent
  • The upside leads to many talents, and
  • The downside leads to so-called learning disability labels.

We encourage the education system to teach to both styles.

We only endorse methods which reach the cause of a challenge.

We acknowledge the whole person.

We intend to bring clarity to a very confusing journey.

We enable individuals to discover their 'gift' and their talents.

*'the gift' is an ability to think in multi- dimensions, and alter the perception of those dimensions.
